Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Full Time Opportunity at AdventHealth Orlando

General Summary:

This is a full-time position to join a thriving large radiation oncology group who cared for over 4,000 unique patients in 2024 across 6 clinics. This position specifically focuses on providing high quality consistent inpatient consultative services to the AdventHealth Orlando downtown campus Monday through Friday. The inpatient service will be supervised by 5 radiation oncologists practicing in the hospital outpatient cancer clinic on campus. There is no evening or weekend call - after hours and weekend inpatient services are provided by the radiation oncology physician group.

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), will establish strong working relationships with the inpatient services in our adult, women’s health, and pediatric hospitals on-campus. In addition to radiation oncology consultations supervised by the attending radiation oncologist, the APRN or PA-C is expected to provide overall education on the role of radiation and navigation for outpatient referral through our Patient Access Representatives. She or he will also have the opportunity to develop an outpatient clinic three afternoons per week to independently care for patients who have completed active treatment.

AHMG expectations for a APRN or PA-C include:

• Performing physical examinations of patients’ evaluation and treatment of radiation oncology patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings

• Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborating with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

• Always displaying a caring and professional attitude as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Radiation Oncology experience preferred however strong clinical background with an emphasis on sub-specialty oncology related conditions is appropriate

AdventHealth Centra Care is seeking a dynamic and energetic APP to join our urgent care team in Central Florida. With locations in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Polk, and Lake counties Centra Care has over 30 clinics in the greater Orlando area, with continued growth planned for 2024 and beyond.

This employment opportunity is a full-time, salaried position with an active and expanding clinical service with the Centra Care group. We specialize in family medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, and corporate medicine. Each of our urgent care centers provides patients with seven day a week access to walk-in services, including on-site x-ray. The APP will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to critically ill patients within the ICU setting. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and providing ongoing care and monitoring of patients. Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a high-intensity environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the ICU team.
  • Perform procedures as needed, including intubations, central line placements, and other critical care interventions.
  • Collaborate with AdventHealth 24/7 Tele-Intensivists on patient care

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performs admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting.
  • Perform procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients
  • Conditions treated: Respiratory Disease, Liver Failure/ Transplants, Multi-system organ failure, Uncontrolled/ New Onset Diabetes, Neuro-surgery patients and varying level of acuity and medical conditions. ECMO (preferred). No post operative cardiac care
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, etc.

About the practice:

The Hematology & Oncology practice at Celebration/Kissimmee is affiliated with one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state, the AdventHealth Cancer Institute. The multidisciplinary team of specialists provides treatment for all cancers, in and outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and symptom management associated with cancer, blood disorders. Patients have access to a multitude of cancer support and resources, including access to national clinical trials, cancer care coordinator and oncology social worker. Our physicians are board certified in oncology and internal medicine and bring nearly a century of extensive clinical experience in the treatment of cancers and blood diseases.

General Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of oncology and Hematology patients within the hospital setting.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Required: 1-3 years of experience as APRN or PA-C in Hematology/Oncology
