AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are looking for dynamic and energetic pediatric hospitalists to join our team.  This .5 or part time, inpatient only position would be located at AdventHealth Ocala, formerly Florida Hospital Ocala. 

Working in association with a fully committed children's hospital network across the state, a strong employed physician multi-specialty group, a balanced schedule, and a competitive benefits/ compensation package are just a few of the many reasons why this is an excellent career opportunity to consider. Location: Melbourne, FL - Specialty: Pediatric, Hospitalist

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are looking for a dynamic and energetic pediatric hospitalist to join our team.  This inpatient only position would be located at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida and perform general pediatric admissions and rounding.  Schedule includes both restricted (in house) and unrestricted call (at home).  This position has an average daily census of 8-10 patients with a max of ten beds.  The newborn service and level 2 NICU is staffed by experienced neonatologists, who will be available on call for high risk deliveries.

Requirements of the position: Board Certification/Eligible American Board of Pediatrics.  NRP and PALS certified.

This position would also have the support of our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children in Orlando is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac ICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and hardworking neonatologist to join our group at the Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children located in downtown Orlando. Come and join an exciting team of 17 neonatologists, 3 Neonatal Hospitalists and 21 neonatal nurse practitioners.  We recently expanded our NICU into a newly built, beautiful, state-of-the-art facility in 2017.

We currently have 102 neonatal beds at AdventHealth for Children. We also have five other Level II NICU’s in hospitals around the Central Florida area, which are staffed by our own Neonatologists, who are part of the same medical group.

Our regional network includes an OB delivery volume of approximately 15,000 births per year. Over the last couple of years, we have expanded our Maternal Fetal Medicine program and Congenital Heart surgery program and have built a pediatric and neonatal ECMO program. We have a dedicated Neonatal transport team and are supported by experienced Pediatric Subspecialists. We are very active in Quality Improvement programs and clinical research, with several multi-center extramurally funded research projects. We also have a very active Neonatal simulation program.

We have an independent General Pediatric Residency program. Our residents rotate through the NICU. We take an active participation in their training and education.

In 2019, AdventHealth for Children is recognized by US News and World Report as the best Children’s Hospital for newborn care in Florida.  We are also recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a top Children’s Hospital for quality and safety, and we are a magnet designated hospital for nursing care. 

Requirements:  The new physician joining the group should be board certified in pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.  Experience post fellowship is preferred but not essential.  Interest and demonstrated experience in clinical research and Quality Improvement projects will be desirable attributes.

Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Pediatric, Neuro-Oncology

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are looking for a dynamic Pediatric Neuro Oncologist to join our team of pediatric cancer specialists based at The Walt Disney Pavilion in Orlando, Florida.  The ideal candidate would have clinical experience post pediatric neuro oncology fellowship and be interested in an active clinical opportunity.  The Program Leader would help to lead the dedicated outpatient neuro oncology practice, protocols, research, and marketing and work with our devoted team of oncologists, pediatric neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists.  The new physician would also share in the inpatient service rotation with our pediatric hematology oncology team.  We also have over 200 families in our Neurofibromatosis multi-disciplinary program that is currently housed in the pediatric oncology program.  Our hospital is part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and actively participates in over 40 open COG clinical trials.

AdventHealth Medical Group Spine Health at Altamonte Springs is looking for a dynamic and team-oriented Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician to join our established destination program.  This position is for a PM&R trained physician to help build and grow the practice in new markets around the Orlando area.  This opportunity is focused on growing 1-2 satellite offices, all within a 15-30 minute drive from our main office located in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The new physician will have the ability to shape his/her practice based on subspecialty interests. 

With the leadership of Dr. Chetan Patel, Medical Director, this physician will have the opportunity to provide the best care and treatment options for spine care patients.  We have full multidisciplinary services at Spine Health at Altamonte Springs that include rehab and sports medicine, wellness, psychology, pain medicine, procedures, and outcomes-based research.  The position would be based in an outpatient setting for patient consultations and EMG procedures. 

Physicians with an academic interest would find this position appealing as Dr. Patel is actively engaged in multiple FDA and European clinical trials and continues to serve as a faculty member for multiple spine societies.  He is the Robotics and Navigation Section Chairman for the North American Spine Society.  At AdventHealth Medical Group Spine Health at Altamonte Springs, he has helped establish a comprehensive research database on operative and non-operative treatment of spine patients with the goal of reporting outcomes based on evidence based spinal treatment and refining clinical algorithms.   The new physician would have the opportunity to teach, participate in our research database and author multiple publications.

Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Full time inpatient Position with some Outpatient Responsibilities

General Summary: The ideal candidate would serve as an integral role in the global management of cardiothoracic surgery patients, including all aspects of peri-operative care from performing patient histories and daily rounds to invasive surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvest for coronary artery bypass graft procedures.

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

  • Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting
  • Handles daily patient rounds (including the CVICU), patient education and discharge summaries
  • Performs invasive procedures, such as chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines and removal of intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required
  • Endoscopic vein harvest, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and/or radial arteries, for use as a bypass conduit (proficient in use of Maquet EVH system)
  • Performs first assistant duties on all adult cardiac and thoracic cases
  • Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, often assisting several surgeons in a single practice
  • Has exacting knowledge of each surgeon's idiosyncrasies to expedite the procedure and limit patient morbidity and mortality
  • Uses knowledge of medical model to promote synergistic relationship between physician and PA
  • Has extensive knowledge of ventilator management and artificial cardiac devices
  • Performs duties of a primary care PA
  • Manages other disease entities frequently encountered in the cardiac population, namely hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, pneumonia and others

Schedule Details:

  • Location: AdventHealth Waterman
  • Schedule is Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM with some flexibility
  • Call rotation 1 in 3 weeknights, and 1 in 3 weekends

Opportunities in the Cardiovascular ICU – AdventHealth Central Florida

We are looking for PA’s and APRN’s to join our growing critical care team. The APP would serve as a member of the cardiovascular critical care team by providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with cardiac or multi-system failure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The APP would be expected to complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital: (other duties as assigned)

  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners.
  • Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents as necessary
  • Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.
  • Procedures performed but not limited to: Chest Tubes, inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, CPR, airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and defibrillation
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the cardiac transplant, ventricular assist device, and ECMO patient in the OR and ICU’s.
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis. 
  • Hours are either 5 AM – 5 PM (Day), or 5 PM to 5 AM (night)
  • 14 (12 hour) shifts required per month
  • The shifts will include days, nights, two weekends per month and holiday rotation.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience with transplant patients, L-VAD, Circulatory Assist Device, CBG’s
