AdventHealth Medical Group is searching for a dynamic, motivated PM&R physician to join our program located at AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, Florida – approximately 40 minutes from downtown Orlando.  This physician will join our medical director to support furthering excellent clinical work and thus increasing the total number of licensed inpatient rehab beds to 22.

The physiatrist will work with an experienced support team of therapists, skilled nurses and dietitians providing care to neurologic, cardiac, orthopedic and general rehab patients.  A full complement of medical and surgical specialists will also provide care for our patients on this unit. The new PM&R physician would be responsible for acute care consults during the day in addition to helping manage patients on the unit.  A shift model with paid leave days provides for a balanced lifestyle.

Neuro Critical Care – PA or APRN

AdventHealth Orlando is seeking an experienced NeuroICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our expanding critical care team. The APP would be based out of AdventHealth Orlando, which has approximately 165 critical care beds. Our Neuro Critical Care unit is currently 28 beds. Our group is currently looking to continue to grow its comprehensive and successful 24/7 closed ICU model.

The APP would serve as a member of the Neurocritical Care team by assisting in management of critically ill patients at AdventHealth. The PA/APRN applies specialized skills and knowledge related to Neuro ICU settings in which they practice, contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and consulting at AdventHealth. 

General Summary: Under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital, the APP will assist with:

  • Providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with multi-system failure, utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient’s physician
  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations and document findings in accordance with hospital requirements
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners
  • Perform CPR; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation; directing administration of life supporting drugs, and defibrillation
  • Insert and manage arterial catheters, central venous catheters and other procedures commensurate with an ICU environment
  • Interface patients with monitoring and instrumentation equipment and directs and educates others in performing the same functions
  • Perform admissions to Neuro ICU during night shifts and consultations to Neuro-Intermediate Unit during day shifts
  • Formulate and implement a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries
  • Assess patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient
  • Participate and assist with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the patients admitted to the ICU

  • All Inpatient - Schedule is 14 12-hr shifts/month, all nights

  • Performs physical examinations of patients, evaluation and treatment of injuries or illnesses related to Neurotology, Head and Neck Surgery in the clinic and hospital setting
  • 75% Rounding in the hospital, 25% first assist in OR/outpatient clinic
  • Performing scope related procedures, incision and drainage, suturing
  • Will also work closely with head & neck surgeons to manage conditions including but not limited to thyroid / parathyroid / parotid conditions requiring surgery, head, and neck cancer, swallowing and vocal cord disorders, and general ENT hospital consultations excluding facial trauma.

General Summary:

• Performs history and physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of surgical oncology patients primarily in the inpatient setting at our Celebration campus.

• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Exhibits autonomy in the operating room and hospital when required

• Performs first assistant duties in the operating room.

• Writes postop orders in the recovery room, , performs post op procedures and more

• Return phone calls of from patients

• Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff, including hospital rounds and inpatient consults

• Candidate will also see patients in the outpatient setting as needed.

Physician Assistant, Pediatric: Cardiology
Orlando, FL

Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Physician Assistant, Pediatric: Cardiology

We are seeking a Certified Physician Assistant, PA-C or APRN with RFNA to join a growing program and practice. The role involves direct care for infants, children, teenagers, and adults with congenital heart disease. The PA-C would work in outpatient and inpatient settings. Also, he/she will assist in the OR during surgery. The position involves collaboration between pediatric cardiology teams, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, and inpatient cardiology. All services would be under the supervision of the heart surgeons.

Our practice is led by world renown congenital heart surgeons at the Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth Orlando.

Experience in Congenital Heart Surgery is not required however, surgical experience outside of PA training will be required. Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac ICU, 102 NICU beds at FHFC, with an extensive network of four other Level II NICU’s that bring our total number of NICU beds to over 150, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open-heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program. Our unparalleled network consists of 26 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.
