GENERAL SUMMARY:

Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates pregnant and postpartum women in triage, walk-in labor & delivery patients
  • Evaluates pregnant and postpartum women including managing all aspects of pre-natal visits
  • Educates women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved.  
  • Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.
  • Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.
  • Serves as OB/GYN team member working closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
  • Emphasizes patient education, active participation, clear communication between the provider and the women, and an individualized health care experience.
  • Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family.

General Summary: The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of injuries or illness of patients with GI related conditions in the hospital.
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Treating patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system, liver functions and esophagus such as GI bleeds, atypical chest pain/GERD, dysphagia, acute hepatitis, gallstone disease, gastroparesis flares, Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis flares
  • Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborating with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

  • Performs physical examinations of surgical patients including, but not limited to: new patient visits, established/follow-up visits, pre & post-operative care.
  • OR assist allowed within scope of practice.
  • Hospital rounding patient education, discharge summaries.
  • Responsibilities in clinic include but are not limited to: Management and closure of complex lacerations, wound care/dressing changes, debridement, suture removal, etc.

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic urologic conditions also including urologic oncology within the clinic and hospital setting
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

  • Procedures to include urodynamics, and eventually cystoscopy after training

Essential Functions:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performing health assessments including patient history and physical examination
  • Performs diagnostic procedures according to privileges and maintains log. 
  • Conditions treated include but are not limited to: Anal Abscess/Fistula, Anal Cancer, Colon and Rectal Cancer, Lower GI bleeding, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticular Disease, Ostomy, and Intestinal fistula care.
  • Orders, interprets, and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies, and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.
  • Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.
  • Orders pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
