AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute, and AdventHealth Medical Group (formerly Florida Hospital) are seeking General Neurologists for our expanding program in Central Florida.  We are growing into one comprehensive team that will help to grow outpatient practices as well as provide limited inpatient coverage among our eight-hospital system in Orlando.  New physicians would join with our existing team of neurologists to provide General Neurology care with our current openings located in Winter Park, Florida just north of downtown Orlando, and at beautiful AdventHealth Celebration. AdventHealth Orlando is continuing to grow its Neuroscience Institute, with a new outpatient clinic facility opening in 2019. We are planning for a new Neuro Critical Care Fellowship with an anticipated launch in 2019.  The ideal candidates would also be able to lead our efforts in neurology research, care analytics, quality and outcomes. Our Neuroscience Institute at AdventHealth Orlando consists of 120 dedicated neurology beds which includes 40 neuro-intensive care units, 8 dedicated neurosurgical OR suites with an intraoperative 3T MRI and 64 slice CT, FDG-PET, SPECT, and MEG lab.  

AdventHealth Orlando has been awarded the highest designation, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC).  Our epilepsy center provides most advanced epilepsy care including full spectrum of neurodiagnostic monitoring, ketogenic diet, stereo-EEG using robotic system (ROSA) and Laser interstitial thermal ablation (LITT).  Our program performs more epilepsy surgeries annually than anywhere else in Florida. 

AdventHealth also has an advanced comprehensive stroke center providing endovascular procedures 24/7. Our neurosurgery program performed more craniotomy and spine surgery than any other hospitals in Florida. Our minimally invasive brain surgery program is one of the best in the state and draws patients nationally and internationally.   

Note: Physicians must be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

The Center for Colon & Rectal Surgery offers comprehensive treatments and minimally-invasive surgery for a multitude of colorectal disorders, conditions and cancers. A multi-disciplinary practice, it is also part of The Pelvic Floor Center of Orlando, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The APRN or PA, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performing health assessments including patient history and physical examination in the office and hospital setting – Primarily in Kissimmee, FL
  • Performs diagnostic procedures according to privileges and maintains log. 
  • Conditions treated include but are not limited to: Anal Abscess/Fistula, Anal Cancer, Colon and Rectal Cancer, Lower GI bleeding, Fecal Incontinence, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticular Disease, Rectal Prolapse, Hemorrhoids, Ostomy Care and Intestinal Fistulas.

General Summary:
The APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s), who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:
  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of adult thoracic surgery patients in the clinic and hospital setting for pre and post-operative patients
  • Conditions treated and post-op care include but not limited to: Robotic Surgery for the Lungs and Chest, Minimally invasive treatment for Early Stage Lung Cancer, Experienced Surgical Treatment for Advanced Lung Cancer, Multimodality treatment for Advanced Lung Cancer, Lung Cancer, Surgical intervention and therapies for Esophageal conditions

  • AdventHealth Celebration hospital will be the primary hospital covered

AdventHealth Winter Park, a part of AdventHealth Orlando, formerly Winter Park Memorial Hospital was chartered in 1951. The hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 320-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness. Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, AdventHealth Winter Park’s Outpatient Center and Women's Services, cancer care at AdventHealth’s Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute.

General Summary:

The APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s), who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations patients, admitting and managing patients with conditions such as: COPD/asthma, Sepsis, Diabetes, Chest pain, Atrial fibrillation, CHF
  • No code blue participation, no ICU admissions
  • Manages overnight acute care needs and takes in new admissions, completing timely documentation and proper H&P’s
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

  • Performs physical examinations and medical management of palliative care patients in the hospital setting including: new consultations, admissions, follow up and discharging of patients per hospital protocol
  • Primary Hospital Covered is AdventHealth Orlando with the expectation that there may be a need to cover another one of our Central Florida Campuses as needed
  • Review patient’s medical history and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to develop, implement and assess appropriate plans of care
  • Assists in appropriate education and communication regarding end of life care and planning with patients and families
  • Tailor patient care plans to fit the unique circumstances of each patient and family
  • Order and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
