AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute, and AdventHealth Medical Group (formerly Florida Hospital) are seeking General Neurologists for our expanding program in Central Florida.  We are growing into one comprehensive team that will help to grow outpatient practices as well as provide limited inpatient coverage among our eight-hospital system in Orlando.  New physicians would join with our existing team of neurologists to provide General Neurology care with our current openings located in Winter Park, Florida just north of downtown Orlando, and at beautiful AdventHealth Celebration. AdventHealth Orlando is continuing to grow its Neuroscience Institute, with a new outpatient clinic facility opening in 2019. We are planning for a new Neuro Critical Care Fellowship with an anticipated launch in 2019.  The ideal candidates would also be able to lead our efforts in neurology research, care analytics, quality and outcomes. Our Neuroscience Institute at AdventHealth Orlando consists of 120 dedicated neurology beds which includes 40 neuro-intensive care units, 8 dedicated neurosurgical OR suites with an intraoperative 3T MRI and 64 slice CT, FDG-PET, SPECT, and MEG lab.  

AdventHealth Orlando has been awarded the highest designation, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC).  Our epilepsy center provides most advanced epilepsy care including full spectrum of neurodiagnostic monitoring, ketogenic diet, stereo-EEG using robotic system (ROSA) and Laser interstitial thermal ablation (LITT).  Our program performs more epilepsy surgeries annually than anywhere else in Florida. 

AdventHealth also has an advanced comprehensive stroke center providing endovascular procedures 24/7. Our neurosurgery program performed more craniotomy and spine surgery than any other hospitals in Florida. Our minimally invasive brain surgery program is one of the best in the state and draws patients nationally and internationally.

General Summary:

Neuro Critical Care – PA or APRN

Serving AdventHealth Orlando

Night: 7 PM – 7 AM

 AdventHealth Orlando is seeking an experienced NeuroICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our expanding critical care team. The APP would be based out of AdventHealth Orlando, which has approximately 165 critical care beds. Our Neuro Critical Care unit is currently 28 beds, with the capacity to increase to 40 beds. Our group is currently looking to continue to grow its comprehensive and successful 24/7 closed ICU model.

 The APP would serve as a member of the Neurocritical Care team by assisting in management of critically ill patients at AdventHealth. The PA/APRN applies specialized skills and knowledge related to Neuro ICU settings in which they practice, contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and consulting at AdventHealth. 

General Summary: Under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital, the APP will assist with:

  • Providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with multi-system failure, utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient’s physician.
  • Obtains patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings in accordance with hospital requirements.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners.
  • Performs CPR; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation, repositioning endotracheal tubes; directing administration of life supporting drugs, and defibrillation
  • Inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, and other procedures commensurate with an ICU environment.
  • Interfaces patients with monitoring and instrumentation equipment and directs and educates others in performing the same functions.
  • Perform admissions and consultations to the NeuroICU and Neuro-intermediate unit Rounds with Neuro- Intensivist, provides cross coverage on the patients rounded on earlier
  • Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries.
  • Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the patients admitted to the ICU

Schedule and Details

  • All Inpatient nights
  • No call
  • During the evening provide cross coverage on the 40 beds combined unit
  • Perform admissions to Neuro ICU and Nero-Intermediate Unit
  • Night rounds with Neuro Intensivist

Required Education and Experience:

General Summary:

  • Physical examinations of patients, assessment and treatment of injuries or illnesses for pediatric patients, in the clinic and hospital setting
  • Patients seen will have a mixture of complicated infections, recurrent or persistent fevers, etc.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all times as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
  • Position requires both inpatient and outpatient coverage – clinic 2-3 days a week, hospital as needed
  • Call schedule is one weekend per month, no weeknight call – call to include hospital rounding and phone calls

  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients

Full Time Opportunity at AdventHealth for Children- Orlando, FL

AHMG Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology formerly known as Pediatric Cardiology Consultants is seeking an APRN to join a growing practice. The role is designed for an APP who will focus on caring for adult congenital heart disease. The APP would work in outpatient and inpatient settings in our Orlando location as well as in satellite clinics, with some weekend call. The position involves collaboration between pediatric cardiology teams, NICU, PICU, inpatient cardiology, adult cardiac subspecialty services, and other adult congenital heart disease team members.

The AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute is one of the busiest centers of its kind in the nation. We are a leading provider of cardiovascular and thoracic services among Medicare patients with national rankings that include: #1 in Cardiology volume, #1 in Vascular Surgery volume, #5 in Thoracic Surgery volume and #8 in Open Heart Surgery volume.   • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Assist Physician with hospital/Lab procedures as needed
  • Assist patient and family with patient education
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
  • Research and database maintenance
  • Collaborates with providers to assist with our Single Ventricle Program
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, parents and hospital medical staff
  • Desire to become part of a multi-disciplinary pediatric and adult congenital cardiology program
  • Some evening and weekend on-call/rounding may be required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited College or University
  • 1-2 years of experience in Adult and Pediatric Congenital Cardiology
  • Experience with congenital heart patients (preferred)

Licensure, Certification, and Registration Required:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligible)
  • Certification through AANP, ANCC or other nationally recognized certification body
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
