General Summary:

The APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

• Performing physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of radiation oncology patients in the outpatient setting

• Ordering and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborating with physician supervisor and staff, to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

• Writing and/or dictating progress notes, procedure notes, history and physical examination, in accordance with medical policies

• Evaluating the processes and outcomes to enhance the delivery of excellent, cost-effective health care

• Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all

Schedule Details:

• Will see patients primarily at the Palm Coast location

• Schedule Monday – Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM with some flexibility

Education and Certification Required:

• Master’s degree in Nursing

• 2-4 years Sub-Specialty experience in Oncology and or Radiation Oncology experience as an APP

• Current, valid Florida APRN license

• ANCC, AANP (or equivalent)

• Active BLS and/or ACLS required

  • See patients independently and support hospital call
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient's course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
  • Candidate must be able to pass a third party background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday with weekend call rotation

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Flexibility to cover Orange, Osceola, Polk, and Seminole county hospitals.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, some weekend responsibility and overnight home call
  • Serving multiple Central FL South Region campuses

Required Education/Experience:

Location: Orlando , FL - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner, Critical Care: Pediatric

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performs admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting.
  • Perform procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients
  • Conditions treated: Respiratory Disease, Liver Failure/ Transplants, Multi-system organ failure, Uncontrolled/ New Onset Diabetes, Neuro-surgery patients and varying level of acuity and medical conditions. ECMO (preferred). No post operative cardiac care
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Always displays a caring and professional attitude
  • Passion for pediatric patients and families
  • 13 shifts a month – 13-hour clinical shifts (169 hours per month) Both day and night call

Knowledge, Education and Experience Required:

  • Pediatric Acute Care Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
  • 5 years’ experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU or acute care setting (Highly preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • “Team player” mentality
  • Preference given to “nocturnist” applicants

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure)
  • Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) (Highly preferred)
  • BLS, and PALS certification required
  • Candidate must be able to successfully pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen
