AdventHealth Orlando is looking for a dynamic and energetic APP to join our Cardiovascular ICU Team at AdventHealth Orlando.

This position is a result of programmatic and company-wide growth as we continue to support and establish high quality Quaternary Cardiovascular Critical Care services to our Central Florida Region. The APP would join AHMG Critical Care Specialists of Central Florida, a 100 plus employed provider intensive care team, which reaches over 15 other AdventHealth campuses throughout Central, North and West Florida, in addition to providing tele-medicine services across multiple states. We take care of and encounter over 20,000 critically ill patients a year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The APP would be expected to complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital:

  • Assess patients for changes in condition and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency care.
  • Procedures performed but not limited to: Chest Tubes, arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, airway management, hemodialysis catheters, manage ventilators, place and manage swan-ganz catheters and defibrillation
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the cardiac surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Aortic Dissections, Thoracic Surgery)
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis.
  • Hours are either 6 AM – 6 PM (Day), or 6 PM to 6 AM (night)
  • 14 (12-hour) shifts required per month
  • The shifts will include days, nights, two weekends per month and holiday rotation.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience as an APRN or PA in Critical Care
  • 2+ years of experience in a CVICU
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing with Acute Care Certification (Required)
  • Board Certification through NCCPA, ANCC or AACN
  • Experience with managing CABG, valve patients, aortic dissections, and thoracic surgery patients (lung resections, esophageal perforation repair, etc)
  • BLS, ACLS, CALS, FCCS, certifications or eligible
