Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of illnesses related to hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, x-ray, etc.
  • Position entails managing/monitoring patients in the clinic, infusion center and hospital settings

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Clinical management and comprehensive evaluation of inpatient neurological patients
  • Clinical management and knowledge of the AHA Stroke Management Patient Care Guidelines.   
  • Formulate and initiate individualized treatment plans based on therapeutic principles
  • Interprets common laboratory, electrographic and radiologic findings and intervene appropriately

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner opportunity available in the Orlando, Florida area. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal APRN to work in our 102 single room NICU at AdventHealth Orlando.

We have several Neonatologists and NNPs/PAs during daytime and have an in-house Neonatologist and two NNPs/PAs at night. This busy NICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to sick neonates. We have a variety of sub-specialists support e.g. Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Radiology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery etc. Our team is well supported by dedicated respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and case managers. Our campus also has a Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Cardiac ICU.

Our NICU features leading edge technologies, including nitric oxide therapy, hypothermia management, neonatal surgeries etc. We have an active Neonatal transport team with ability to use inhaled Nitric Oxide and therapeutic hypothermia during transport.

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to join our Neonatal team.

Nurse Practitioner, Non-Surgical: Critical Care
Orlando, FL

Neuro Critical Care – PA or ACNP

Days and Nights: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM – 7 AM

 AdventHealth Orlando is seeking an experienced NeuroICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our expanding critical care team. The APP would be based out of AdventHealth Orlando, which has approximately 165 critical care beds. Our Neuro Critical Care unit is currently 28 beds, with the capacity to increase to 40 beds. Our group is currently looking to continue to grow its comprehensive and successful 24/7 closed ICU model.

 The APP would serve as a member of the Neurocritical Care team by assisting in management of critically ill patients at AdventHealth. The PA/APRN applies specialized skills and knowledge related to Neuro ICU settings in which they practice, contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and consulting at AdventHealth. 

General Summary: Under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital, the APP will assist with:

  • Providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with multi-system failure, utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient’s physician
  • Obtains patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings in accordance with hospital requirements
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners
  • Performs CPR; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation; directing administration of life supporting drugs, and defibrillation
  • Inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, and other procedures commensurate with an ICU environment
  • Interfaces patients with monitoring and instrumentation equipment and directs and educates others in performing the same functions
  • Perform admissions and consultations to the NeuroICU and Neuro-intermediate unit Rounds with Neuro- Intensivist, provides cross coverage on the patients rounded on earlier
  • Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries
  • Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the patients admitted to the ICU

Schedule Details

  • All Inpatient - 14 (12-hour) shifts per month
  • No call
  • Provide cross coverage on the 40 beds combined unit
  • Perform admissions to Neuro ICU and Nero-Intermediate Unit
  • Day and Night Coverage

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (Acute Care Certification) or Physician Assistant Studies

AdventHealth for Children Pediatric Head & Neck Surgery seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their Pediatric Head & Neck Surgery team. The NP or PA assists the assigned staff attending in all aspects of patient care. This position involves practice in the clinical setting, including clinic, inpatient, ambulatory/outpatient, and pre-operative and post-operative care. Hospital rounds may be required. There is potential to participate in research and publications. No after-hours call is required, however may be instituted at a future date. The practice will involve care and management of patients requiring or consultation for a head/neck and plastic surgery-related diagnoses. Care will include performing clinic assessments, admission History and Physicals, daily plan of care, airway evaluation, ultrasound evaluation and biopsy, and other minor clinic procedures. Practitioner will manage the inpatient course in collaboration with the attending. Practitioner will coordinate referrals and follow up on consults to other providers and clinic staff. Practitioner may provide emergency room and hospital consultations. Practitioners will provide care to ambulatory/ patients when needed in coordination with ambulatory nursing staff. Surgical first assist duties.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • One to two years of clinical and/or surgical experience is preferred. Head/Neck- and Plastic Surgery-specific training will be provided.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and assume responsibility for inpatient/outpatient care.

AdventHealth Medical Group Inpatient Rehab

Full time Opportunity for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant

General Summary:

AdventHealth Medical Group is searching for a dynamic, hard-working, board certified Advanced Practice Provider with experience in the rehab setting, managing Cardiac, Stroke, Brain Injuries, Neurology and Orthopedic patients. The ideal candidate would serve as an integral role in the global management of rehab patients, including all aspects of care from performing patient histories, daily rounding, family visits, and new consults.

The APP, under the supervision of the Physician(s) is responsible for:

  • Performing patient histories and physical exams.
  • Managing the Inpatient rehab unit. Handling patient rounding, patient/family education, admissions, and discharges.
  • Providing acute care consults at Waterman, Altamonte and Apopka (Orlando/Winter Park campuses as needed).
  • Building relationships with referring physicians.
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and making appropriate referrals to either a physician or specialist.
  • Collaborating with physician supervisor, OT, PT, therapists, skilled nurses, dietitians and other staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients.
  • Working with insurance companies as needed for Peer to Peer prior authorizations
  • Displaying a caring and always having a professional attitude, as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.
  • Discharge planning – Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions, confirms follow-up appointments and more.
  • Additional coverage as needed at AdventHealth Orlando and Winter Park campuses

Schedule Details:

  • Required to cover multiple campuses: Waterman, Apopka and Altamonte
  • Schedule: Required to work 20-23 days a Month: Monday – Friday 8.5 hours shift from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with some flexibility for patient care
  • Call responsibility: every other weekend, including on-site hospital rounding.

General Summary:

Utilizes expertise in patient/family assessment incorporating physical, psycho-social, environmental, spiritual, and financial factors to assess patients for barriers that interfere with the attainment of healthcare goals.

  • Responsible for assessment and treatment of individuals with developmental disorders, mental, emotional, social or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other related drugs.
  • Educates the health care team and physicians about psycho-social issues and identified patient/family problems as well as recommends strategies to address these issues.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the primary care providers to improve health outcomes.
