General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

• Performing physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of injuries or illness of patients with GI related conditions in the hospital and out-patient setting.

• Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Treating patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system, liver functions and esophagus such as GI bleeds, atypical chest pain/GERD, dysphagia, acute hepatitis, gallstone disease, gastroparesis flares, Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis flares

• Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborating with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

• Displaying a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

• Treating patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system, liver functions and esophagus including but not limited to: Barrett’s Esophagus, Colorectal Cancer Screening, Colonoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, GERD, IDB, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, Liver Disease, Upper GI Disorders

• AdventHealth Winter Park hospital will be the primary hospital covered, but will occasionally require coverage at AdventHealth East Orlando as well

Full-time opportunity located at AdventHealth East Orlando

AdventHealth Medical Group General Surgery at Lake Nona is looking for a advanced practitioner registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our growing general surgery team in the Lake Nona area. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with multiple physicians and APP’s in an inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a good surgical foundation as well as first assist experience.

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

• Patient management and surgical first assist will include the following but not limited to: Skin biopsies, I&D, Catheter removals, Complex Wound Care, Hernia Surgery, Abdominal Wall procedures, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, and Lumps & Bumps

• Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting: new patients, follow ups, pre/post operatively

• Handles daily patient rounds, patient education and discharge summaries

We are looking for PA’s and APRN’s to serve as members of our expanding critical care team. The APP assist in management of critically ill patients in our closed ICU. The ideal candidate would apply specialized skills and knowledge related to ICU settings to contribute to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting and provides leadership to the organization.

General Summary:

The APP under the supervision and direction of the Physician and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital: (other duties as assigned)

• Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings

• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners.

• Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents as necessary

• Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.

• Procedures performed but not limited to: inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, and other procedures commensurate with an ICU environment, CPR; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation, repositioning endotracheal tubes; and defibrillation

• directing administration of life supporting drugs according to established protocols

• Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

Schedule Information:

• 14 - 12-hour shifts are required per month

• Both Days and nights are required

• 2 weekends per month are required

• Hours are either 7 AM – 7 PM (Day), or 7 PM to 7 AM (night)

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing (Acute Care Certificate required) or Physician Assistant (PA) Studies

• 5 years of ICU RN experience OR 3 years as APRN in the ICU
