AdventHealth Orlando is seeking an experienced CVICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our expanding critical care team. As a CVICU APP at AdventHealth Orlando, you will be pivotal in providing advanced, specialized care to patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.   • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

  • Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing with Acute Care Certification (Required)

Physician Assistant, Surgical: Cardiovascular
Orlando, FL

General Summary:

  • Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, per-operative and post-operative procedures, and assists in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures.
  • Provide patient and family with pre-operative education, answer questions regarding surgery, recovery and risk factor modification.
  • Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
  • Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges.

Physician Assistant, Surgical: Pediatrics

We are seeking a Certified Physician Assistant, PA-C to join a growing program and practice. The role involves direct care for infants, children, teenagers, and adults with congenital heart disease. The PA-C would work in outpatient and inpatient settings. Also, he/she will assist in the OR during surgery. The position involves collaboration between pediatric cardiology teams, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, and inpatient cardiology. All services would be under the supervision of the heart surgeons.

Our practice is led by world renown congenital heart surgeons at the Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth Orlando.

Experience in Congenital Heart Surgery is not required however, surgical experience outside of PA training will be required. Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac ICU, 102 NICU beds at FHFC, with an extensive network of four other Level II NICU’s that bring our total number of NICU beds to over 150, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open-heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program. Our unparalleled network consists of 26 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.

General Summary:

The PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s), who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs patient histories and physical exams of pediatric and adult congenital heart patients in the office and hospital setting
  • Handles daily patient rounds within the Pediatric Cardiac ICU, patient education and discharge summaries
  • First assisting in the OR, bedside procedures, ventilator management
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Assist Physician with hospital/Lab procedures as needed
  • Assist patient and family with pre- and post-procedural education
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
  • Research and database maintenance

  • There are ample opportunities for supervision of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and participation in didactic seminars as presented and attendee (e.g., tumor boards, grand rounds).
  • The possibility of conducting research is also available.

General Summary:

Utilizes expertise in patient/family assessment incorporating physical, psycho-social, environmental, spiritual, and financial factors to assess patients for barriers that interfere with the attainment of healthcare goals.

  • Responsible for assessment and treatment of individuals with developmental disorders, mental, emotional, social or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other related drugs.

AdventHealth Orlando and AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) are looking for dynamic and innovative Pulmonary Critical Care physicians to join an established practice in the beautiful Orlando, Florida. This position would have dedicated inpatient and outpatient pulmonary time with a rotating ICU block of approximately 1:8.

The physician will work with our experienced and established pulmonologists, advanced practice providers and collaborate with the advanced lung disease specialists, interventional pulmonology, thoracic surgeons, pulmonology transplant medical/care team to grow and establish a high quality and highly sustainable Pulmonary Critical Care program throughout the AdventHealth System in Central Florida. This is truly an amazing opportunity to build and cultivate this program. This employment opportunity is for a physician who has a passion for clinical excellence and be willing to build a patient base within the local community. Strong referral base and access to supporting specialists would allow a physician to build a robust patient base quickly.
