About the practice:

The Oncology & Hematology practice at Winter Park is affiliated with one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state, the AdventHealth Cancer Institute. The multidisciplinary team of specialists provides treatment for all cancers, in and outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and symptom management associated with cancer, blood disorders. Patients have access to a multitude of cancer support and resources, including access to national clinical trials, cancer care coordinator and oncology social worker. Our physicians are board certified in oncology and internal medicine and bring a century of extensive clinical experience in the treatment of cancers and blood diseases.

General Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of oncology and Hematology patients within the outpatient clinic setting.
  • Location is in the Winter Park Cancer Institute which is located across the street from AdventHealth Winter Park hospital.
  • Position is a primary outpatient position with requirements to cover inpatient rounding and call with the other Central Florida Oncology & Hematology APPs.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Treatment and management to a wide variety of cancers including but not limited to breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck, and urologic, along with chronic leukemias and lymphomas.
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor, outpatient pharmacist, infusion center, radiation oncology, and support staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.  
  • Always displays a caring and professional attitude as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.
  • Participates in practice call and weekend rounding & call across the following campuses: Winter Park, Altamonte, East, Orlando, Apopka, and Winter Garden.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Preferred 1-3 years of experience as APRN or PA-C in Oncology/Hematology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public.
  • Effective communication skills and strong medical decision-making skills are necessary.
  • Strong clinical background with an emphasis on oncology related conditions.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies.

For more than a decade the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando has provided treatment and successful therapy for a variety of blood-related cancers and diseases. Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. As Central Florida’s first comprehensive bone marrow transplant center, Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for meeting stringent volume and standard of care requirements. Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando is also a member of the National Marrow Donor Program.

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of illnesses related to hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant; fundamental internal medicine as it pertains to the patients’ hematologic malignancy, i.e. diabetes mellitus, hypertension.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, x-ray, etc.
  • Position entails managing/monitoring patients in the clinic, infusion center, and hospital settings.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner opportunity available in the Orlando, Florida area. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal APRN to work in our 102 single room NICU at AdventHealth Orlando.

We have several Neonatologists and NNPs/PAs during daytime and have an in-house Neonatologist and two NNPs/PAs at night. This busy NICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to sick neonates. We have a variety of sub-specialists support e.g. Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Radiology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery etc. Our team is well supported by dedicated respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and case managers. Our campus also has a Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Cardiac ICU.

Our NICU features leading edge technologies, including nitric oxide therapy, hypothermia management, neonatal surgeries etc. We have an active Neonatal transport team with ability to use inhaled Nitric Oxide and therapeutic hypothermia during transport.

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to join our Neonatal team.

  • The NNP is responsible for providing care for NICU patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist
  • Communicate with parents, other specialists and among NICU team

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants to join our Neonatal team 

  • The APRN/PA is responsible for providing care for NICU patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Opportunities available in the Melbourne, Florida area. AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are looking for dynamic, innovative and energetic neonatal nurse practitioners or PA-C at the Level 2 NICU at Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) in Melbourne, Florida. The NNP/PA-C in collaboration with the neonatologist will cover the 10 bed Level 2 NICU at HRMC along with the newborn service.

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of Physicians is responsible for:

  • The APPis responsible for providing care for NICU and Newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice.
  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines and chest tube placement, and circumcisions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, other specialists and among NICU team members.
  • Providing education and support to patients’ families.
  • Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a supervising physician.

  • 24-hour shifts (8am-8am)

Overview:

The APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of injuries or illness of patients with hepatology related conditions in the out-patient setting.
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Follow and manage Peds Liver Transplant Patients Inpatient/outpatient.
  • Follow other liver related diagnoses (inpatient/outpatient) including: AIH, biliary atresia, neonatal cholestasis, MASH, Alagille syndrome, Wilson’s, hepatoblastoma/HCC, liver lesions, viral hepatitis, hyperimmune liver failures, PFIC, bile acid synthetic disorders.
  • Follow portal hypertension/portosytemic shunt patients, pre-surgical evaluation (inpatent/outpatient), Arranging serial EGD.
  • Post-surgical management (inpatient/outpatient).
  • Collaborating with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Acute Care
Orlando, FL

Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Acute Care

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performs admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting.
  • Perform procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients
  • Conditions treated: Respiratory Disease, Liver Failure/ Transplants, Multi-system organ failure, Uncontrolled/ New Onset Diabetes, Neuro-surgery patients and varying level of acuity and medical conditions. ECMO (preferred). No post operative cardiac care
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
