General Summary:

• Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting

• Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required

• Performs first assistant duties.

• Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, often assisting several surgeons in a single practice

• Has exacting knowledge of each surgeon's idiosyncrasies to expedite the procedure and limit patient morbidity and mortality

• Uses knowledge of medical model to promote synergistic relationship between physician and PA

• Post-op- Writes orders in the recovery room, talks with family, visits patients performs post op procedures and more

• Discharge planning – Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explain discharge instructions, confirms follow-up appointments and more

• Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests

• Return phone calls from patients

• Performs physical examination of patient's with breast disease in the office setting to formulate a clinical plan of action.

• Assists with minor office procedures such as biopsies, dressing changes as well as drains

General Summary:

The PA, under the supervision of the Physician who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

• Performs physical examinations of patients, evaluation and treatment of injuries or illnesses related to Neurotology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Otolaryngology in the clinic and hospital setting

• Surgical first assist in OR, Rounding in the hospital, medical management in the clinic

• Performing fiberoptic laryngoscopy, incision and drainage, biopsies, suturing

• Conditions managed and surgically treated include but are not limited to thyroid / parathyroid / parotid, head and neck cancer requiring tracheostomy and laryngectomy, reconstructive procedures, swallowing and vocal cord disorders, and H&N/general ENT hospital consultations excluding facial trauma.

• Will also work closely with Neurotology surgeon to manage conditions including but not limited to chronic ear disorders, hearing loss amenable to surgical intervention, acoustic/balance nerve tumors, CSF leak and superior semicircular canal dehiscence, ear canal stenosis and atresia, eustachian tube dysfunction, and more surgically focused ear disorders.

• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborates with physician, supervisor, and staff as necessary to provide quality care to patients and support to staff

We are seeking an APP, PA-C or APRN to join a growing Orthopedic program at AdventHealth Waterman. The role involves orthopedic management of patients in General Orthopedics and Spine subspecialty focus. This position will be to round at the hospital and see patients in clinic – ortho back and general ortho.

General Summary:
The PA-C or APRN, under the supervision of the Physician(s), who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:
•    Handling daily patient rounds, patient education and discharge summaries
•    Ramp up independent patient management and fracture care with follow up visits
•    Practice and occasional ED call coverage
•    Other procedures which include but are not limited to: PRP and Gel applications, joint injections, aspirations, cast application, dressing changes, and  fracture reduction 
•    Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, X-ray, MRI, etc.
•    Assisting patient and family with pre- and post-procedural education
•    Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and places orders for referral to the appropriate specialist
•    Collaborating with physician and staff to provide consistent care to the patients
