General Summary:

The Pediatric APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

• Performs admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required

• Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients

• Conditions treated: Congenital Heart Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Epilepsy, Complex Medical, Liver Transplant

• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre- and post-operative care, etc.

• Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

• Always displays a caring and professional attitude

Schedule Details:

• Shifts are for AdventHealth Children’s in Orlando

• PRN on an as needed basis

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Enthusiastic team player, team currently consists of 4 PCICU physicians, and 4 other APP’s

• Group sees over 200 heart cases annually

• 12-hour shifts (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Education and Experience Required:

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies

• Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – preferred

• 1-3 years in experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU, acute care, or ER setting

  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Schedule Details:

  • Main location: AdventHealth Orlando
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday; 4 days hospital, 1 day administration
  • Call required – includes rounding and overnight
  • Rotating weeknight and holiday call

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills are a must
  • Strong clinical background with an emphasis on oncology related conditions
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed by the practice as night and weekend on-call responsibilities may be required

Premier Hematology & Oncology is a hematology and oncology facility affiliated with one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state, AdventHealth Cancer Institute. The multidisciplinary team of specialists provides treatment for all cancers, in and outpatient chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and symptom management associated with cancer, blood disorders. Patients have access to a multitude of cancer support and resources, including access to national clinical trials, cancer care coordinator and oncology social worker. Our physicians are board certified in oncology and internal medicine and bring nearly a century of extensive clinical experience in the treatment of cancers and blood diseases.

General Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of oncology and Hematology patients within the hospital setting
  • Locations include Celebration and Kissimmee
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Treatment and management to a wide variety of cancers including but not limited to breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck, and urologic, along with chronic leukemias and lymphomas

For more than a decade the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has provided treatment and successful therapy for a variety of blood-related cancers and diseases. Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. As Central Florida’s first and only comprehensive bone marrow transplant center, Blood and Marrow Transplant at Orlando is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy for meeting stringent volume and standard of care requirements. Blood and Marrow Transplant at Orlando is also a member of the National Marrow Donor Program.

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of illnesses related to hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, x-ray, etc.
  • Position entails managing/monitoring patients in the clinic, infusion center and hospital settings
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

AdventHealth Medical Group is looking for an experienced Neuro-Hospitalist APP to join our growing inpatient team at our top-rated AdventHealth Daytona Beach campus!

We are seeking an APP dedicated to continuing our tradition of excellence in both clinical practice and professionalism, while maintaining AdventHealth’s mission, vision, and values.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Clinical management and comprehensive evaluation of inpatient neurological patients
  • Clinical management and knowledge of the AHA Stroke Management Patient Care Guidelines.   
  • Formulate and initiate individualized treatment plans based on therapeutic principles
  • Interprets common laboratory, electrographic and radiologic findings and intervene appropriately
  • Evaluate / provide /facilitate appropriate education for patients and families
  • Evaluates and provide for patient discharge needs with specific recommendations for follow up in the outpatient setting and recognizes
  • Provides immediate appropriate responses to life-threatening emergencies.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, management, staff, patients and families to ensure coordinated and cohesive execution of quality patient care in a timely manner
  • Effectively/consistently collaborate with members of the health care team to coordinate treatment plans, specific patient concerns and discharge planning,
  • Communicate seffectively/accurately the patient treatment goals and activities with the staff members providing the care
  • Participate in team conferences and provides information relating to therapeutic concerns in a clear, concise manner, reports to program director problems or concerns involving direct/indirect patient care in a timely/professional manner
  • Maintains and updates knowledge/skills in clinical area of specialization including specialized therapies and use of complex/new equipment and pharmacology applicable to practice
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in medical therapy pertaining to area of clinical specialization through a review of literature and attendance of professional programs

Requirements of the position: 

  • Board-certified Physician Assistant or
  • APRN with current advanced practice registration with Florida State Board of Nursing
  • Experience with endovascular patient management preferred
  • Available to work Monday-Friday 8 Hour shift
  • Strong communication skills
