This care is provided within the APRN's specialty area and setting, and scope of practice. Utilizing the extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology and physiology acquired, exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes and procedures. The Hospital-Based APRN is additionally involved in education, consultation and research at various levels.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluates pregnant and postpartum OBGYN Women’s Triage

• Performs the nursing duties related to midwifery including labor and delivery care, care after birth, and newborn care.

• Educates women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved.

• Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.

• Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings.

• Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.

• Serves as OB/GYN team member working closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries.

• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.

• Emphasizes patient education, active participation, clear communication between the provider and the women, and an individualized health care experience.

• Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family.

Practice Overview

The practice is a part of AdventHealth Medical Group.  This is an employment opportunity that includes the benefits of call coverage and competitive compensation with a productivity model. AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine – APRN or PA

Full-time position covering the Central Florida South Division

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

• Performs physical examinations of patients, assessment and treatment of injuries or illnesses for pediatric through geriatric patients, including women’s health

• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.

• Independent and collaborative medical management of acute and chronic conditions

• Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

• Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

• Combination of outpatient in person visits as well as virtual visits

• Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Schedule Details:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule

• Outpatient clinic responsibilities as needed

• Call rotation as needed

• Ability to provide long term coverage across our division to open patient access, as well as, cover for providers on maternity leave/FMLA or CME

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Education and Experience Required:

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies

2-4 years of clinical practice experience in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine treating a variety of acute and chronic conditions is required

Licensure, Certification, and Registration Required:

• Current, valid Florida APRN or PA-C license

• Current, valid DEA license

• ANCC, AANP or NCCPA (or equivalent) certification

• Current BLS required
