AdventHealth Ob/Gyn is a well-established practice that has been in the Orlando area for almost 30 years and is part of the award-winning AdventHealth system.  Physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives work together to provide the highest-quality care in a friendly, welcoming setting.  We provide safe, efficient, patient-centered care. The Ob/Gyn practice is an ACOG “SCOPE” safety-certified practice. Midwives also see obstetrics and gynecology patients in the office setting. The Certified Nurse Midwife may be additionally involved in resident and student education.

General Summary:

  • Evaluates pregnant and postpartum women including managing all aspects of pre-natal visits
  • Performs the nursing duties related to midwifery including labor and delivery care, care after birth, and newborn care.
  • Educates women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved.  
  • Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings.
  • Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.
  • Serves as OB/GYN team member working closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
  • Emphasizes patient education, active participation, clear communication between the provider and the women, and an individualized health care experience.
  • Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family.
  • Teaches patients about all aspects of an infant’s reaction to its environment including but not limited to breast feeding and bonding.  
  • Communicates and documents pertinent case information in a timely and thorough manner.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of midwifery principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods ensuring safe working environment for patient, family, and staff including using appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Knowledge of theories of family dynamics, mother-child attachment, parenting, and adult learning concepts.

Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant

General Summary:

  • The Pediatric APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:
  • Performs admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU and Cardiac ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required
  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients
  • Conditions treated: Congenital Heart Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Oncology, Epilepsy, Complex Medical, Liver Transplant

  • Enthusiastic team player, team currently consists of 4 PCICU physicians, and 2 other APP’s
  • Group sees over 200 heart cases annually
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, 14 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform procedures: lines, intubations, etc.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
  • 1-3 years in experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU, acute care or ER setting
  • Cardiac ICU experience as an RN (Highly Preferred)
  • Experience with ECMO (Highly Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

For more than a decade the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has provided treatment and successful therapy for a variety of blood-related cancers and diseases. Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. As Central Florida’s first and only comprehensive bone marrow transplant center, Blood and Marrow Transplant at Orlando is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy for meeting stringent volume and standard of care requirements. Blood and Marrow Transplant at Orlando is also a member of the National Marrow Donor Program.

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of illnesses related to hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant

  • Position entails managing/monitoring patients in the clinic, infusion center and hospital settings 
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public; Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Ability to provide quality customer service
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including call rotation, nights, weekends
    • Rounding required during the day and on weekends when on call
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced clinic with highly acute patients, APP will also be required to participate in inpatient rounding at AdventHealth Orlando
  • Ability to complete bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies in both inpatient and outpatient settings, lumbar punctures, and IT Chemo (training will be provided)

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies

General Summary:

The AdventHealth Medical Group Behavioral Health Hospitalist group is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our growing general surgery team at AdventHealth Lake Wales. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with multiple physicians and APP’s in an inpatient setting.

General Summary:

The PMHNP, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Effective and efficient behavioral health care, psychiatric care and family counseling
  • The ideal candidate will have a good foundation in mood disorders such as Depression, Mania, Psychosis, as well as experience with dual diagnoses and Major Neurocognitive Disorders with Behavioral Disturbance a plus
  • Responsible for psychiatric evaluations, follow up visits, CLN House Consults and care plan
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide services at AdventHealth Lake Wales
  • Flexible schedul as schedule varies, some weekend coverage may be required to cover vacation and CME time off
  • Call required one day per week; occasional weekend call when needed – call to include hospital rounding and overnight call coverage

AdventHealth Medical Group Cardiothoracic Surgery at Waterman

Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Full time inpatient Position with some Outpatient Responsibilities

General Summary: The ideal candidate would serve as an integral role in the global management of cardiothoracic surgery patients, including all aspects of peri-operative care from performing patient histories and daily rounds to invasive surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvest for coronary artery bypass graft procedures.

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

  • Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting
  • Handles daily patient rounds (including the CVICU), patient education and discharge summaries
  • Performs invasive procedures, such as chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines and removal of intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required
  • Endoscopic vein harvest, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and/or radial arteries, for use as a bypass conduit (proficient in use of Maquet EVH system)
  • Performs first assistant duties on all adult cardiac and thoracic cases
  • Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, often assisting several surgeons in a single practice
  • Has exacting knowledge of each surgeon's idiosyncrasies to expedite the procedure and limit patient morbidity and mortality
  • Uses knowledge of medical model to promote synergistic relationship between physician and PA
  • Has extensive knowledge of ventilator management and artificial cardiac devices
  • Performs duties of a primary care PA
  • Manages other disease entities frequently encountered in the cardiac population, namely hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, pneumonia and others

Schedule Details:

  • Location: AdventHealth Waterman
  • Schedule is Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM with some flexibility
  • Call rotation 1 in 3 weeknights, and 1 in 3 weekends
    •  includes hospital rounding and overnight call
  • Mostly inpatient with some outpatient responsibilities

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • 1-3 Years of experience in CT Surgery as a surgical first-assist
