The Ob/Gyn practice is an ACOG “SCOPE” safety-certified practice. Midwives also see obstetrics and gynecology patients in the office setting. General Summary:

  • Evaluates pregnant and postpartum women including managing all aspects of pre-natal visits
  • Performs the nursing duties related to midwifery including labor and delivery care, care after birth, and newborn care.
  • Educates women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved.  
  • Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.
  • Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings.
  • Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.
  • Serves as OB/GYN team member working closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
  • Emphasizes patient education, active participation, clear communication between the provider and the women, and an individualized health care experience.
  • Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family.
  • Teaches patients about all aspects of an infant’s reaction to its environment including but not limited to breast feeding and bonding.  
  • Communicates and documents pertinent case information in a timely and thorough manner.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

For more than a decade the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has provided treatment and successful therapy for a variety of blood-related cancers and diseases. Blood and Marrow Transplant Center has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. As Central Florida’s first and only comprehensive bone marrow transplant center, Blood and Marrow Transplant at Orlando is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy for meeting stringent volume and standard of care requirements. General Summary:

The Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is looking for an experienced Pediatric APP to help lead our pediatric ICU Team in Orlando. We have 22 bed pediatric ICU and 10 bed Cardiac ICU that maintains its own leadership structure along with cross coverage between our CICU and PICU teams. Responsibilities of the new lead APP will include clinical time (approximately 85%) and leadership/administrative responsibilities (approximatel15%).

Leadership Responsibility

  • Works in conjunction with provider scheduler to formulate staffing schedules/leave requests
  • Manages and coordinates APP programs and activities
  • Participates in development of organizational business plans, policies and procedures
  • Participates in recruitment of and hiring of APPs
  • Works jointly with med staff, providers, and administration to organize APP specific CEU’s
  • Disseminates articles, seminar information or exam related information to APPs
  • Provides feedback for annual evaluations
  • Participates in process and continuous improvement projects for Pediatric Critical Care
  • Serves as liaison between APPs with nursing, physicians, and administration
  • Embodies teaching and mentoring role for APPs and students

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performs admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU and Cardiovascular ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required

General Summary:

The PMHNP, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Effective and efficient behavioral health care, psychiatric care and family counseling
  • The ideal candidate will have a good foundation in mood disorders such as Depression, Mania, Psychosis, as well as experience with dual diagnoses and Major Neurocognitive Disorders with Behavioral Disturbance a plus
  • Responsible for psychiatric evaluations, follow up visits, CLN House Consults and care plan

AdventHealth Medical Group Cardiothoracic Surgery at Waterman

Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Full time inpatient Position with some Outpatient Responsibilities

General Summary: The ideal candidate would serve as an integral role in the global management of cardiothoracic surgery patients, including all aspects of peri-operative care from performing patient histories and daily rounds to invasive surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvest for coronary artery bypass graft procedures.

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

  • Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting
  • Handles daily patient rounds (including the CVICU), patient education and discharge summaries
  • Performs invasive procedures, such as chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines and removal of intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required
  • Endoscopic vein harvest, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and/or radial arteries, for use as a bypass conduit (proficient in use of Maquet EVH system)
  • Performs first assistant duties on all adult cardiac and thoracic cases
  • Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, often assisting several surgeons in a single practice
  • Has exacting knowledge of each surgeon's idiosyncrasies to expedite the procedure and limit patient morbidity and mortality
  • Uses knowledge of medical model to promote synergistic relationship between physician and PA
  • Has extensive knowledge of ventilator management and artificial cardiac devices
  • Performs duties of a primary care PA
  • Manages other disease entities frequently encountered in the cardiac population, namely hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, pneumonia and others

Opportunities in the Cardiovascular ICU – AdventHealth Central Florida

We are looking for PA’s and APRN’s to join our growing critical care team. The APP would serve as a member of the cardiovascular critical care team by providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with cardiac or multi-system failure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The APP would be expected to complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital: (other duties as assigned)

  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff and healthcare learners.
  • Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) and documents as necessary
  • Assesses patients for changes in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.
  • Procedures performed but not limited to: Chest Tubes, inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, CPR, airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and defibrillation
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the cardiac transplant, ventricular assist device, and ECMO patient in the OR and ICU’s.
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis. 
  • Hours are either 5 AM – 5 PM (Day), or 5 PM to 5 AM (night)
  • 14 (12 hour) shifts required per month
  • The shifts will include days, nights, two weekends per month and holiday rotation.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience with transplant patients, L-VAD, Circulatory Assist Device, CBG’s
  • ECMO experience (preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing with Acute Care Certification
  • Board Certification through NCCPA, ANCC or AACN or equivalent
  • BLS, ACLS, CALS, FCCS, ATLS certifications or eligible
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a PA or APRN in one of the following: Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac ICU or Cardiovascular ICU
