Full Time Outpatient Position Located in Mount Dora, FL

General Summary: The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients, assessment and treatment of injuries or illnesses for pediatric through geriatric patients, including women’s health
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Independent and collaborative medical management of acute and chronic conditions
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Schedule Details:

  • Schedule is Monday – Friday, with extended hours and possible weekend hours
  • Outpatient Clinic Responsibilities
  • Call rotation

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Enthusiastic team player

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (FNP) or Physician Assistant studies
  • 1-2 years of clinical practice experience in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Experience treating patients of all ages and a variety of acute & chronic conditions highly preferred

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN or PA-C license
  • Current, valid DEA license
  • ANCC, AANP or NCCPA (or equivalent) certification
  • Current BLS required; ACLS preferred

AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute is the number one heart transplant group in the Southeast performing more transplants per year than any other transplant center in the Southeast with patient survival rates over 82% after 3 years. We will be opening a new 32 bed CVICU in quarter this year. We are looking for PA’s and APRN’s to join our growing cardiovascular critical care team. The APP would serve as a member of the cardiovascular critical care team by providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with cardiac or multi-system failure.

Duties and Responsibilities: The APP would be expected to

complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital: 

  • Assess patients for changes in condition and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency care.
  • Procedures performed but not limited to: Chest Tubes, arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, airway management, and defibrillation
  • Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the cardiac transplant, VAD, MCS, and ECMO patient in the and CVICU’s.
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis. 
  • Hours are either 5 AM – 5 PM (Day), or 5 PM to 5 AM (night)
  • 14 (12-hour) shifts required per month
  • The shifts will include days, nights, two weekends per month and holiday rotation.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience as an APRN or PA in Critical Care, that are willing to learn CV side
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing with Acute Care Certification (Required)
  • Board Certification through NCCPA, ANCC or AACN
  • Experience with transplant patients, L-VAD, Circulatory Assist Device, CABG’s (highly preferred)
  • ECMO experience (highly preferred)
  • BLS, ACLS, CALS, FCCS, certifications or eligible

Surgical Physician Assistant; PA-C – Head & Neck Surgery

Our board-certified otolaryngologists have extensive experience in robotic, reconstructive and endocrine surgery. Our nationally recognized physician team provides residents from across the Orlando metro area and beyond with the most advanced surgical methods for treating serious conditions affecting the head and neck. Their expertise in battling cancers of the mouth, throat, vocal cords, sinus cavity, salivary glands, tonsils, thyroid and skin is second-to-none in Central Florida, and the operating facilities at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs provide a technologically superior environment for their patient care.  In addition, our providers have helped many patients to overcome chronic throat problems pertaining to swallowing, sleep apnea and voice control, and our practice features a state-of-the-art clinic devoted to voice and swallowing disorders, with services aimed at helping professional singers and others with vocal cord problems as well as patients with unresolved swallowing difficulties.

The PA, under the supervision of the Physician who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients, evaluation and treatment of injuries or illnesses related to Head and Neck Surgery in the clinic and hospital setting
  • Surgical first assist in OR, Rounding in the hospital, medical management in the clinic
  • Performing scope related procedures, incision and drainage, suturing
  • Conditions managed and surgically treated include but are not limited to: Skin Cancer, Tumor removal, Nasal Reconstruction, Flap Surgery, Maxillary-Mandibular Advancement, Robotic Surgery
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician, supervisor and staff as necessary to provide quality care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies
  • Surgical first assist experience preferred
  • Experience in a surgical practice or ENT preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida PA license

Surgical Physician Assistant or APRN First Assist

Full-time inpatient opportunity with some outpatient responsibilities

AdventHealth Medical Group Pediatric Surgery at Tampa is looking for a surgical physician assistant to join our growing pediatric surgery team in the greater Tampa area. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with a supervising physician in an inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a good surgical foundation as well as first assist experience.

General Summary:

The PA-C/APRN, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Patient management and surgical first assist will include the following but not limited to: Appendectomy, Bowel Resection, Colorectal Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Gallbladder Surgery, Hernia Surgery, Spleen Surgery, and Minimally Invasive/Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery
  • Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting: new patients, follow ups, pre/post operatively
  • Handles daily patient rounds, patient education and discharge summaries
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, Ultrasound etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Schedule Details:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide services at AdventHealth Tampa
  • Call rotation includes in-hospital rounding

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing with a First Assist Certification
  • 1-2 years of Surgical Experience, First Assist, and/or OR experience

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida PA or APRN license
  • Certification through NCCPA, ANCC or equivalent
  • First Assist Certification (APRN)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification required
