Duties and Responsibilities:

The APP would be expected to complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital:

• Assess patients for changes in condition and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency care.

• Procedures performed but not limited to: Chest Tubes, arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, airway management, and defibrillation

• Participates and assists with the pre-, peri-, and postoperative management of the cardiac transplant, VAD, MCS, and ECMO patient in the and CVICU’s.

• Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.

Schedule Details:

• Ability to provide in-hospital coverage on a rotating shift basis.

AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute is the number one heart transplant group in the Southeast performing more transplants per year than any other transplant center in the Southeast with patient survival rates over 82% after 3 years. We have expanded our 8 bed ECMO unit to a 32 bed ECMO unit at the beginning of this year. We are looking for PA’s and APRN’s who enjoy a challenge and have a passion for medical devices and complex patients to join our growing team. The APP would serve our patients by providing direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with cardiac or multi-system failure.

Duties and Responsibilities: The APP would be expected to complete the following under physician direction and within the credentialing standards of the Hospital:

Full Time Inpatient and Outpatient Role

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of the Physicians is responsible for:

• Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting

• Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests

• Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required

• Assists with management of laboratory results and medication needs for inpatients and outpatients

• Performs laparoscopic and robotic first assistant duties including closure of incision sites

• Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, often assisting several surgeons in a single practice

• APP would see patients in the clinic, including new patients, post-op, routine follow-up, assist with surgery and after hours call for patient medical issues

• Assists with recognizing and managing acute and chronic complications of surgery

• Preparing patients and assisting patients to prepare for surgery, including in-depth chart review

• Hospital rounds

• Communicate with other providers regarding patient care

Schedule Details:

• Main location: AdventHealth Celebration

• Schedule is Monday – Friday with 2-3 days in the clinic and 2-3 days in the hospital; with some flexibility depending on surgery
