Overview

AdventHealth Cancer Institute (AHCI) based in Orlando, Florida, is looking for a dynamic leader to serve as Medical Director of our statewide Radiation Oncology program.   This experienced, innovative and energetic leader will manage radiation oncology services and lead our statewide group ~ 20 radiation oncologists across 13 locations. The group provides services among many of the AdventHealth sites throughout the Central Florida area including the east coast of Florida. The Medical Director will lead the vision, strategic direction and clinical product for radiation at AdventHealth.  The Director will focus on clinical quality, education, and clinical research activities that advance the reputation and market position of the radiation therapy program.  The Director will also support clinical sub-specialization by tumor site and participation in a multi-disciplinary care model. 

Specific duties include responsibilities in the following areas:  clinical research, clinical services, marketing and community relations, education, administrative, accreditation, and philanthropy.  The Medical Director will also have a portion of clinical time.  The AHCI is open to areas of subspecialty interest/background. 

Ideal Medical Director Skills and Expertise include:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a hospital-based radiation oncology program (or other cancer based program) preferably within a multi-site system
  • Minimum of eight years of experience post training
  • Board Certified in Radiation Oncology
  • A “thought leader” in the area of radiation oncology
  • Published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in providing clinical education/training in area of specialty
  • Experience and dedication to cancer clinical trials
  • Ability to encourage physician collaboration between employed and private practice physicians
  • Dynamic personality with strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
