Pediatric Rheumatologist AdventHealth for Children | Orlando, Florida

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are seeking a full-time Pediatric Rheumatologist to join our established and growing Pediatric Rheumatology program in Orlando, Florida. This physician will become the third member of a collaborative team of pediatric rheumatology specialists, helping meet increasing patient demand while expanding access to high-quality subspecialty care across Central Florida.

Since opening more than 15 years ago, AdventHealth for Children has experienced significant growth, with Pediatric Rheumatology serving as an important component of its expanding pediatric subspecialty network. As our service lines continue to evolve into contemporary, highly specialized models of care, Pediatric Rheumatology remains central to our vision of delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care for children throughout the region.

This position offers the opportunity to help shape the future of a growing program while providing comprehensive pediatric rheumatology services within one of the nation's largest faith-based health systems. The incoming physician will support AdventHealth for Children's strategic growth initiatives and help strengthen the program as a leading referral destination throughout Central Florida and the broader AdventHealth network.

About Our Pediatric Rheumatology Program

Our division includes two pediatric rheumatologists with active clinical and research programs focused on improving care for children with rheumatologic and autoinflammatory diseases. One faculty member is board-certified in both Pediatric Rheumatology and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology, providing additional expertise in primary immunodeficiency disorders, immune dysregulation, and complex autoimmune diseases.

The division currently participates in clinical research on childhood-onset Sjögren disease and pediatric antiphospholipid syndrome, as well as collaborative multicenter studies, offering opportunities for faculty interested in clinical research with dedicated support from our research team.

  • Philips ultrasound technology for diagnostic and procedural musculoskeletal ultrasound

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Rheumatology
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship
  • Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain Florida licensure
  • Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) trainee preferred

Hospital Description

Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, more than 30 peds ICU beds with a dedicated peds CICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system.  We started our comprehensive pediatric open heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes.  We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program, the region’s only BMT and solid organ transplants including kidney and liver, and we increased Orlando area NICU beds to 150 total in 2017.  Our unparalleled network consists of 30 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center totals over 23,000 births and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.  These 30 hospitals refer patients for tertiary and quaternary services to our main location near downtown Orlando.  Our newest program has brought pediatric liver transplant services to Central Florida. In 2019 through 2024, AdventHealth for Children is recognized by US News and World Report as the best Children’s Hospital for newborn care in Florida.  We are also recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a top Children’s Hospital for quality and safety, and we are a magnet designated hospital for nursing care.
