Overview
The AdventHealth Transplant Institute is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and fellowship-trained advanced heart failure cardiologist to lead the advanced heart failure and heart transplant team. The physician will work with our current group of established transplant cardiology and thoracic transplant surgical teams to help continue to grow our high-quality cardiac transplant program. We have a full comprehensive Transplant Institute that includes both thoracic and abdominal transplant teams. Our team performs over 60 hearts, 20 lungs, and 30-50 VAD’s per year with multi organ transplant capability.
The AdventHealth Transplant Institute is located just outside downtown Orlando close to the charming Winter Park community. In September 2020, AdventHealth Orlando opened a state-of-the-art 32 bed critical care unit dedicated to the cardio thoracic transplant service. AdventHealth has a hospital-based organ procurement organization (Our Legacy which is a top performing OPO in the United States).
Requirements of the position include:
- Fellowship training in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant with at least five years’ experience post fellowship
- Board Certification is required in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure
- Eligible to meet UNOS/OPTN bylaws for primary physician for heart transplant

AdventHealth Orlando’s Ginsburg Tower is a 15-story patient tower with 440 patient beds and our Cardiovascular Institute includes 12 multi-functional procedure suites equipped to perform:
- Cardiac Surgeries (over 1,200 annually)
- Vascular Surgeries (over 2,200 annually)
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization Procedures (approx. 5,000 annually)
- Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Procedures (over 2,500 annually)
In addition, the tower also houses our Emergency Department, OR suites, and ICU beds. A new 32 bed critical care unit recently opened dedicated to advanced heart and lung failure and transplant.
At AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute, our medical team fields more than 70,000 cardiac-related visits annually with more than 25,000 individuals being treated for chest pain across seven emergency rooms.
Practice Setting
The AdventHealth Transplant Institute is at AdventHealth Orlando, just north of downtown Orlando. Liver, Kidney and Pancreas transplants are already performed, and the Heart and Lung program started in 2012. The office site is steps away from the hospital in an adjacent medical office building.
